JOB POSTING: Summer Student Position – Administrative Support

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team for a (14) week period, from May – August. Duties include general office support, assist in verification of timekeeping for payroll, using scheduling software to match clients to home support staff in a timely and efficient manner, communicating with staff and clients regarding scheduling, as well as other assigned duties. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in Health Administration or Business operations.

Applicants must be starting or returning to a full-time post secondary program in September 2021.

POSITION SCOPE:
Inverness County Home Support Society

is a private not-for-profit incorporated Agency with a mission to provide excellence in the delivery of Home Support Services throughout the County of Inverness. Inverness County Home Support Society is requesting application for CCA/Home Support Workers in various areas within Inverness County.

The Home Support Worker (CCA) is a member of the Continuing Care team who has completed an approved course in Home Support. The Home Support Worker (CCA) assists the client/family to maintain themselves in their own environment by providing services such as housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, personal care, and family relief.

A Home Support Worker (CCA), employed by Inverness County Home Support Society, delivers services on behalf of the Continuing Care Nova Scotia Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate of completion of a recognized Continuing Care Assistant training program, current CPR level C, Food Handler’s Course, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Standard First Aid and WHIMS
  2. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, appropriate insurance
  3. Experience working with the elderly, challenged, or families at risk, is an asset.
  4. Communicates well both written and orally.
  5. Works well independently with minimal supervision.
  6. Is reliable, flexible and willing to be on call.
  7. Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Continuing Care program is an asset.
  8. Demonstrates a good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationships with clients, families, coworkers and management.
  9. Good attendance and work record.
  10. Bilingualism is an asset.
