QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, community nursing, team building, communication, and education
- Good judgment, organizational skills, decision making skills and team orientation to problem solving
- Work experience in supervising staff would be preferred
- Experience with occupational health & safety and quality assurance considered an asset
- Computers skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Procura, etc.
- Must participate in on-going education
- Knowledge of the Continuing Care Nova Scotia Program
- Minimum three (3) years nursing experience and at least one of the following levels of education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
- Diploma in Nursing from an approved school of nursing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
- Diploma in Practical Nursing and licensed in the Province of Nova Scotia with College of Licensed Practical Nurses
- A valid drivers license, proof of insurance and access to a reliable vehicle
- Valid CPR C / First Aid and Criminal Record Check required

POSITION SCOPE:
Inverness County Home Support Society
is a private not-for-profit incorporated Agency with a mission to provide excellence in the delivery of Home Support Services throughout the County of Inverness. Inverness County Home Support Society is requesting application for CCA/Home Support Workers in various areas within Inverness County.
The Home Support Worker (CCA) is a member of the Continuing Care team who has completed an approved course in Home Support. The Home Support Worker (CCA) assists the client/family to maintain themselves in their own environment by providing services such as housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, personal care, and family relief.
A Home Support Worker (CCA), employed by Inverness County Home Support Society, delivers services on behalf of the Continuing Care Nova Scotia Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of completion of a recognized Continuing Care Assistant training program, current CPR level C, Food Handler’s Course, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Standard First Aid and WHIMS
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, appropriate insurance
- Experience working with the elderly, challenged, or families at risk, is an asset.
- Communicates well both written and orally.
- Works well independently with minimal supervision.
- Is reliable, flexible and willing to be on call.
- Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Continuing Care program is an asset.
- Demonstrates a good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationships with clients, families, coworkers and management.
- Good attendance and work record.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
